With footpaths, bridleways, tracks and lanes in all directions from your front door, you can venture as far as you like; over the moors, along the rivers, through the woods...

Both Barnard Castle and Richmond are full of unique boutique, antique, and gift shops, and we are surrounded by beautiful farm shops such as Mainsgill, Thorpe Farm & Cross Lanes (all with lovely cafes for a slice of cake and cup of tea!)
Cinema & Theatre
The Station cinema in Richmond is a truly unique and special location for treating yourself to a night at the movies. Alternatively, see what's on the stage at the beautiful Georgian Theatre Royal!
Museums, Castles & Abbeys
Within just a short distance of your cottage you will find some outstanding places to visit. To name but a few: Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Raby Castle, Richmond Castle, Eggleston Abbey

Make the best of the vast, open skies and visit Grassholme Observatory for an evening of stargazing, or make like Dr Doolittle and chat to the Lamas at Wetheriggs Animal Sanctuary.

There are two fabulous eateries in thevillage, the Milbank Arms and Coghlans Tea Room. Also nearby are the Rokeby Inn and Smallways pubs, and of course there are numerous restaurants, pubs and dog friendly cafes in Barnard Castle and Richmond.
